MAY 2010 MEETING PHOTOS

The IPMS San Diego met on May 28 at the Veterans Memorial Center & Museum in San Diego. Ship models were the dominant type this month. Tony Bunch, Manny Gutsche and David Weeks conducted a judging demonstration in preparation for the up-coming 2010 Model Expo.

Mike Potter (left) brought his 1/700 USS Flint (background) and Marty Horvath his 1/700 USS Indianapolis (foreground).
This Benson Class destroyer is a Dragon, 1/350 scale USS Laffey (DD-459) built and brought by Rex McCoy.
Jerry Jackson brought this tiny 1/700 scale sail ship which sails are made of printing paper. Jerry also brought this Academy 1/72 scale Type 9 U-Boat which was meant to be a bath tub toy.
Craig Burke's 1/700 USS Enterprise is now complete. Tony Bunch brought his work-in-progress 1/700 USS Honolulu, along with detail accessories from l"Arsenal. David Nielsen brought two work-in-progress German armored half-tracks, both 1/35 scale models.
Sdkfz 251 is on the left, Sdkfz 250 on the right. David gave a comprehensive description of the modifications that he's giving the two models, including how the wheels are not only turning but also steering.
Ethan Idenmill 1/72 vignette includes two old ESCI kits, the M-12 and the dilapidated truck.
David Weeks brought his much more advanced 1/48 scale Saturn 1B and Apollo 7 scratch-built model, loaded with details.
