OCTOBER 2013 MEETING REPORT

The IPMS San Diego met on October 25 at the Girl Scout Center, located 1231 Upas St. in San Diego.

The fourth and last Quarterly Contest of the year attracted a substantial number of modelers, who brought a good number of models for Show 'n Tell too. This was also officer nomination night.

The Meeting


President Rex McCoy opened the meeting and announced that he will not be able to keep his role in 2014.

Treasurer Gary Williams gave his traditional financial report, and Joel Hendricks followed with his Secretary report.


Quarterly Contest Results

With nineteen models entered in the Fourth Quarterly Contest,
Lead Judge Jerry Jackson divided them into five categories:
Junior, Aircraft 1/32 Scale, Aircraft 1/48 Scale, Aircraft 1/72 Scale, and Miscellaneous.

Show 'n Tell


Richard Abraham brought a 1/48 scale HobbyBoss
F-111 C, in Australian colors and markings. Richard experienced several issues with this kit.


Mark Knowlton is building a 1/48 scale Revell/Germany D3A1 Val, with a CMK resin and
photo-etch cockpit set. Mark plans to weather the aircraft by pre-shading the panel lines.


Tony Beres brought a 1/144 scale Minicraft kit of a Boeing N.W. 377 Stratocruiser
that he's building as a desk-top model for a friend.


Aaron Lovejoy brought two single 28 mm figures from Games Workshop, both modified
from the original sculpture and painted with acrylics, with NNM metal effects.


Ethan Idenmill is working on a 1/144 scale German bunker that he bought at the IPMS Nationals,
with pre-painted figures and a "garage" resin kit painted with Tamiya, Vallejo and Testors acrylics.


New member Bill Gerrish is practicing weathering on this Tamiya 1/48 scale
Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, one of his favorite aircraft.


David Nielsen has just started work on a 1/700 scale USS Indianapolis from Tamiya, making small
corrections to the superstructures, adding surface details and scribing the deck's wood planks.
