AUGUST 2012 MEETING REPORT

The IPMS San Diego met on August 31 at a new facility, the Girl Scout Center, located 1231 Upas St. in San Diego.

The meeting took place in a one-time room, as the room where it will regularly happen was busy that evening. But no matter the room, the facility is a huge improvement over our previous meeting location. Come and check it out if you haven't done so already.

Manny Gutsche brought this Messerschmitt ME-1101, a 1/72 scale DML model, built out-of-the-box and painted with Xtracolor enamels. Manny had built the model a few years ago but decided to take it to the IPMS Nationals earlier this month, where it earned second place in its category.
Rex McCoy has painted his 1949 Ford, a 1/24 AMT kit, with Model Car World lacquer matching the original Ford color.

Marty Horvath has finished his 1/700 Aoshima IJN Isokaze, a WWII Japanese destroyer.

Ethan Idenmill has finished his pair of AV-8 B Harriers, both 1/144 scale models from Dragon. He has started work on a M60 Blazer, a 1/72 ESCI model that requires a lot of putty application.

Dany Galgani brought the work-in-progress F-4 J Phantom II that he's building for the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum. The aircraft is painted with custom-mixed glossy Testor enamels and Model Master metallizers.
Jerry Jackson brought his well advanced Ark Royal, an early British aircraft carrier in 1/700 scale by L'Arsenal. The resin kit comes loaded with PE parts.

Tim Latham's North Africa WWII scene is taking shape, with the addition of scratch-built palm trees made from feathers.

Tim finished his other WWII diorama, complete with a demolished Tiger tank and a German soldier.

Jerry Brunson created this diorama featuring a 1/72 F-100 Super Sabre by Trumpeter. Jerry added scratch-built gun bays which were missing from the kit.
