MAY 2012 MEETING REPORT

The IPMS San Diego met on May 25 at the Veterans Memorial Center & Museum in San Diego. The evening saw a substantial number of models in various stages of completion, all brought for show n' tell.

Rich Durham presented the second installment of his P-40 Warhawk build demo.

The club added one new member, Charles Sickels.
Mike Pagliari, a prolific modeler in 1/72 scale aircraft (predominantly European and WWII props) from one of the Scotland IPMS groups joined our meeting while on vacation in San Diego. He also participated in our annual ModelExpo the following weekend as a judge.

Looking for volunteers to help with the IPMS-SD promotional table at the up-coming ModelExpo at the Air & Space Museum Annex at Gillespie Field the following weekend, Ethan Idenmill brought the display board that he created as background for the table.

Show 'n Tell
Bob Ekstrom is building a 1/48 Monogram F-106 out-of-the-box with re-scribed panel lines.

Jerry Brunson shows the underside of his beautiful 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18 E Super Hornet,
complete with Aires cockpit and seamless intakes

Kelvin Branom is working on two 1/144 Dragon aircraft models, an F/A-18 E and an IDF Kfir C2+C7.

Rex McCoy has built this 1/48 Armalo Hawker Hurricane, a model made from the old Airfix molds and cheaply repackaged.

Fred Fimbres brought two 1/48 aircraft models, a (Accurate Miniatures?) P-51 A
and an OSI Mig 21 UTI Mongol trainer.

Two 1/48 aircraft models from Charles Sickles, a Minicraft Cessna 172 built out-of-the-box, and a Testor Cessna 337 with re-scribed panel lines, custom cockpit with figure and retractable landing gear.

From various 1/72 kits, Craig Burke created this ME-2262 "Sturmadler", a what-if bomber based on an enlarged Me-262 and powered by four jet engines.
Jerry Jackson brought three new armors, a 1/72 Trumpeter Russian KV-1 Ehkranami built out-of-the-box (top), a 1/72 Dragon Stug III built out-of-the-box too (center) and a 1/72 Dragon Stug IV L48 (bottom) with aftermarket zimmerit.

Ethan Idenmill started work on two Gato submarines and a Japanese sub chaser,
all Skywave models in 1/700 scale.

Mike Potter is scratch-building this 1/700 USS Atlanta, with aim at making it a mold master for resin casting production.

Dany Galgani's 1/24 Fujimi model of the 1968 Le Mans winning Ford GT 40 is finally completed.
