DECEMBER 2011 MEETING REPORT

The IPMS San Diego met on December 16 at the Veterans Memorial Center & Museum in San Diego.

This was our Christmas meeting, with lots of pizza, thanks in great part to the generous
contribution of Coronado Library's Candice Hooper.

Treasurer Gary Williams gave his financial report.
Members brought a nice choice of models in
various stages of completion for Show 'n Tell.

After four consecutive years as President, Tony Bunch opens his last meeting as such.
David Weeks is working on a conversion of a 1/48 scale F4U-4 into an F4U-4B, bashing two kits
together, a Tamiya F4U-1D and an Academy F4U-4, with the addition of a resin cockpit and
a canopy from CMK and an R-2800 engine from Quick Boost.
Richard Abraham shows his work-in-progress 1/48 scale S-2F from Kinetic on which he plans to
apply Brazilian markings.
Rex McCoy has built this 1/48 scale FM-2 Wildcat from Hobby Boss, out-of-the-box, except for
the pilot that comes from a Tamyia kit.
Ethan Idenmill brought another 1/144 scale aircraft, this time a Chinese F-7II, aka MIG-21, by
Trumpeter, still a work-in-progress, pre-shaded with ink. The main color will be white. The kit
comes from an old mold and has many fit and molding issues.
Fritz Ochs brought a collection of 1/350 scale submarines, all from Hobby Boss.
David Nielsen has started work on this 1/350 scale Type VIIC submarine
from AFV Club that he plans to build out-of-the-box.
Jerry Jackson brought his 1/700 HMS Ark Royal by L'Arsenal. Jerry found that there's some
fit issues with the P.E. railings on this otherwise excellent resin model.
Another close up view of the Ark Royal details. Scott Langille is building a 1/25 Ford Louisville
flat bed crane truck from a Coca Cola box van,
with a scratch-built deck, an Italeri crane, and
a modified grille to reflect a modern model truck.
Coronado Public Library's Candice Hooper brought this beautiful die-cast SDB-5 Dauntless 1/32
scale model that was anonymously given to her for her excellent work on
the US Naval Aviation Centennial exhibits throughout 2011 at the Library.

Thank you to all who participated!
